Conceiving Tomorrows Systems with IDERS
IDERS was founded in Winnipeg, in 1991. IDERS develops electronic products
and systems for OEM clients currently in use in over 70 countries worldwide.
IDERS very first project was to design and produce interac terminals
and pin pads for CIBC, deployed across Canada. These products gained wide
acceptance very quickly, testament to IDERS architectural, design and
manufacturing skills.
Since then, IDERS has designed and produced systems including industrial
controls, gas distribution SCADA systems, VME 64 systems for military
communications and cellular base station applications, rail transport
control and monitoring systems, unmanned flight control systems, scorekeeping
systems, anti-counterfeiting devices, semiconductor test and measurement
systems, as well as continued development for financial transaction systems.
The list goes on. IDERS takes pride in the diversity of projects and products
they have helped clients bring to market.
IDERS facilities are divided into engineering, administrative and production
spaces and are located in a gentrified bronze works building, built in
the late 1800s. The building is symbolic of IDERS, a company that combines
advanced technologies for successful and quick product turn out, with
a traditional work ethic emphasizing quality, durability and hard work.
Regardless of the type of project or size of the client, IDERS forms a
unique and involved relationship with each. The companys success
can be attributed, in part, to their connections and partnerships with
academia as well as local and federal government institutions. Knowledge
transfer and support have enabled several successful IDERS projects.
In August 2002, IDERS introduced the GUIDE A07, the first multi-purpose,
single board computer supporting platform to integrate Linux/RTOS Linus
operating systems, an ARM CPU and a Xilinx FPGA. The GUIDE A07 was developed
by IDERS for its partner Guide Systems and has already been integrated
into a wide variety of products and systems.
In November 2002, IDERS opened an automated surface mount technology (SMT)
production line for contract business. The line can place and inspect
most complex surface-mount technologies at high speed, such as ball grid
arrays, including the many other different kinds of components required.
Additionally, IDERS has X-ray inspection equipment to ensure solder connections
hidden under components can be fully certified.
Up until now, IDERS depended on electronic manufacturing service (EMS)
subcontractors to do the printed circuit board assembly step of their
production. These subcontractors have the necessary equipment, personnel
and experience to assemble IDERS designs but were geared primarily to
serve customers with massive production volumes. IDERS facility
offers a boutique service which can manufacture low to medium quantities
of complex electronic assemblies cost effectively - the typical requirement
for many of IDERS OEM clients. The facility produces products in batches
as small as a dozen units up to several thousand per month, depending
on the product and the client.
IDERS is supporting Micronet research on Submicron Diagnostic Tools for
Microelectronics (Nanoprobes). For more information about IDERS Incorporated,
