IDERS is making a significant upgrade to its SMT capabilities. At the
end of March, IDERS will be adding a Universal GSM-X to its line. The
GSM-X is special in many ways, even from the already excellent standard
GSM line of flex placement systems.
GSM-X dual linear drive system vs. GSM lead screw drive: extremely
accurate positioning. This will enable IDERS to move into placement of
0201 technology in addition to further improving placement of BGAs and
larger technologies.
Imaging System: The GSM-X will come equipped with 2.6 and 0.5mil
LANTIRN cameras. The LANTIRN cameras represent the latest imaging from
UIC. The 2.6 is ideal for BGAs. The 0.5 is targeted towards flip-chip
and 0201 imaging. Both cameras are equipped with LANTIRN Stadium lighting,
meaning the sharpest, shadow-free illumination for imaging.
Vision System: Acting as the glue between the Linear drive
and advanced cameras, the GSM-X will feature the LANTIRN 630 VME imaging
system which processes all the image data and feeds out to the motion
control system. The already accurate and robust GSM 3500 vision system
is taken to the next level with 630.
Additional benefits to having a second GSM in line will mean a doubling
of our overall available feeder count plus offer redundancy. Common components
such as nozzles and feeders are still shared between the two machines.
