IDERS and RoHS Compliance

"RoHS" refers to Directive 2002/95/EC of the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union of January 27, 2003 which Restricts the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment. All electrical and electronics equipment destined for sale in Europe must comply with this directive as of July 1, 2006.

IDERS customers which require RoHS compliance can rely on IDERS to avoid the use restricted substances (e.g. lead (Pb), mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, polybrominated diphenyl ethers) while employing compliant manufacturing processes such as Pb-free soldering which do not comprimise the reliability of the end-product. Over the past six months, IDERS has qualified internal engineering and manufacturing processes according to international standard and precedent. The end results are RoHS-compliant processes which meet or exceed the quality of their traditional counterparts for creating the safety-critical, high-performance products for which IDERS is known.

Below, find two documents which outline the challenges of designing a RoHS-compliant soldering process and the steps taken by IDERS to verify that its RoHS-compliant soldering process produces high-reliability solder joints.
