Mechanical Technologist / Designer

 

Responsibilities:

This position will have a wide range of responsibilities in the IDERS mechanical group. The majority of the activities will be:

 

Design basic components and assemblies using SolidWorks CAD software

 

Create engineering drawings for fabrication and inspection

 

Qualify designs using a combination of numerical and empirical testing methods.

 

Maintain CAD system procedures and file organization for database components and library features

 

Assemble and prepare samples for tests

 

Inspect first articles from outside parts supplier and document results

 

Requirements:

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology from a recognized post secondary institution, eligible for P.Eng or CET certification

 

Minimum 1 year experience in mechanical /manufacturing engineering

 

Solid mechanical aptitude and comfortable with small “hands on” fabrication tasks

 

Experience with SolidWorks and knowledge of electronics and electro-mechanical devices an asset

 

Willing to travel occasionally both locally and internationally

 

Good communication and organization skills
