IDERS Specification and Fixed-Price Development Model

IDERS prefers fixed-price development. This is also highly preferable to our clients with fixed product development budgets. IDERS is confident in offering fixed price development for two reasons;
 a) a long history of success with delivering solutions on budget
 b) working from solid specifications.

Solid specifications are the key to fixed price development. IDERS collaborates with clients extensively before the start of any project to ensure that a spec is complete. As part of this spec building process, we factor all the of client's metrics for success for the product - price, performance, longevity, compatibility, manufacturability as well as appeal. Depending on the completeness of the specification, IDERS will often participate in these activities at no cost to the client.

Once in possession of a specification, IDERS proposes in writing;
 • development activities required
 • identification of and design approach for key / novel technical undertakings
 • anticipated development process
 • schedule, including milestones
 • development and prototyping costs
 • anticipated per-unit production costs
 • out-of-pocket costs for regulatory compliance testing, specialty tooling, etc.
 • required client participation i.e. milestone evaluation, client testing and integration, etc.

IDERS takes great pride in the accuracy and completeness of our proposals process. They have and will continue to be the foundation for all our successful project undertakings.

IDERS is not rigid in our approach to projects. Large clients often have specific project requirements which IDERS is flexible in supporting. There have been occasions where time-to-market pressure is so great, minimal specifications are used for time-and-materials development. In these cases, time was essential and good judgement, experience and ability is required.
